Creative, fun & unapologetically over-the-top kids bedrooms
Having been lucky enough to be blessed (some days cursed) with 3 kids, I have had SO much fun designing their rooms over the years! Now, I KNOW that decorators and interior designers would have you believe that a child's room should ideally be transitional from when they're a toddler all the way up to their teenage years, requiring little change. What the heck kind of fun is that??!? My kids get re-designs on their rooms every 2-3 years and I believe nothing is too much or over the top! They're KIDS and their bedrooms should fun, safe sanctuaries - a place to read and learn and think and PLAY and create and IMAGINE and dream!!
Now, I KNOW that "professional" decorators would have you believe that a child's room should need minimal design change from when they're a toddler all the way up to their teenage years. But what the heck kind of fun is that?!? I say poppycock to that!
(I don't really actually SAY poppycock out loud ever.)
I'll admit that for a while, back when my youngest started school full time and I had eons of free time in front of me again for the first time in 10 years (or so I sillily thought - is "sillily" a word? it totally should be!) I toyed with the idea of doing creative kids bedrooms as a business. I went so far as to make a name, create a logo and originally registered Red Tulip Design Studio as a domain for this business back in 2013. But here I am many many many years later, not doing it as a business... but I AM still decorating! :)
I want to mention that my mom, Inge, has been my artistic partner in the concept and creation of each room. She is an extraordinarily talented fine arts watercolor & acrylics artist and she helped with color selections, painting, accessories shopping, and all placement of artwork (which for some reason I hate and am terrible at!). So, when I talk about "we" in the description of each room, I mean my amazing, gorgeous mom and me!
